You should note that display works both as a noun and a verb. It is a very close synonym to show and demonstrate.

Forms of the word



Using the word

Talent/skill/ability: Some children display a talent for languages from a very early age.

Emotion/aggression/affection: Typically, males find it harder to make a public display of emotion.

go/be/put on: For example, when the artefacts from the Nile valley went on display the queues were enormously long.

a display of: Among the exhibits at the British Museum is a superb display of early Egyptian pottery.

Fireworks/window: The window displays in Newcastle around Christmas can be spectacular.
