What do band scores mean?
The band scores give you an assessment of your overall ability to use English on a scale from 0 – 9. For more detail on this, please go to IELTS Band Scores
Who accepts IELTS and what score do you need?
Please go to the official IELTS site for institutions that accept IELTS.
Typically, you will need an average of at least 6.0-6.5 for direct acceptance to academic institutions and between 5.0 and 5.5 for foundation courses. Some institutions may ask for a minimum level in certain modules as well as an overall band score.
However this varies a lot and so you should contact the institution directly for more information.
