This video post is about the IELTS listening paper – a paper many candidates disregard, believing there is not much technique involved. In fact, there is just as much need to practise your skills on this as on any of the other papers.
Listen to the video and consider what I have to say about reading, thinking, listening and writing. When do you read? When and how do you write? This is perhaps the most important strategy to master.
I shall be posting more ideas and resources to help you on listening in the weeks to come. For now, however, be sure to practise your listening. A good place to start is with the BBC news bulletin: there are normally 3 or 4 items. Listen and make notes: what are the headlines? You can always check you answers on the RSS feeds found on this page.
