Today’s IELTS word of the day is:

principle

Notes

  • The first thing you need to do is learn the spelling. Do not confuse with Principal – the person who is in charge of a school
  • The central meaning of the word is “rule”. This can a moral rule (high, moral principles) or a basic general rule (the principles of aviation)
  • There are a number of useful phrases and collocations using principle: on principle, in principle, a matter of principle, underlying principles, compromise your principles, stick to your principles
