Today’s word of the day is

perspective

Notes

This is an extremely useful word as it allows you to talk about viewpoints and opinions. Another related word that may come in useful is outlook.

Forms of the word

perspective: a countable noun

Using the word

wide/narrow: If we consider this issue from a wider perspective, it is immediately clear that some action needs to be taken.

new/different/historical etc: This issue needs to be considered from a historical perspective to see why it is so important. 

keep  in/put  in: The results  need to be kept in their proper perspective [see something for its true value]

look at/consider: If we look at this issue from the perspective of the farmers whose livelihood is at risk, then their anger is understandable. 

lose/maintain a sense of: It is important to maintain a sense of perspective here and not lose sight of the fact that most children are perfectly happy.
