Conclude – IELTS word of the day

Today’s word from the academic word list is

conclude

Notes

  • there are a wide variety of words you need in this family, they include: conclude, conclusion, conclusive, inconclusive, conclusively, inconclusively and concluding
  • much the most common phrase is of course “In conclusion”: there are alternatives such as “Conclude by saying”
  • common collocations are “draw”, “come to”,” reach” and “jump to a conclusion”
  • common adjectives used with conclusion are “firm”, “logical” and “foregone”
