Today’s word from the academic word list is:

concept

Notes

  • There are a number of different words in this family, including: concept, conceptual, conception and the fairly unusual verb conceptualise
  • Concept and conception are very similar in meaning and usage.
  • A very common idiom is to “grasp a concept” meaning to understand an idea
  • Another common phrase is “to have no concept of”

      Good work. A word a day keeps the IELTS examiner away. Or something like that – my next major project is idioms!!
