Top Tips for IELTS

This is a word  and concept that is key for academic writing . If you want to write academically, you will need to do some research of course and then cite the sources you used.

The word is less common in general English but one usage that should be helpful for IELTS people is how you can cite examples. Giving examples is an essential skill in task 2 essays.

Forms of the word




Using the word 

source/example/instance/case etc: Citation of sources is an important feature of academic writing.

a number/several etc: It is possible to cite a number of different instances of film stars who give generously to charity.

frequently/commonly etc: One of the most commonly cited examples is the accident at long Island.
