IELTS reading practice

This is a brilliant reading resource for IELTS candidates. It is far more than a reading practice test rather it is a complete tutorial on the reading paper. It explains how to approach the reading paper and the different types of question you can expect to find there. It shows examples of  9 different types of question and then explains the different reading skills needed for each question type. For me, this is the very best kind of IELTS training as it looks at the reading skills required.

The different types of task it analyses are

  • summary completion
  • matching paragraphs to headings
  • identifying the writer’s views (Yes/No/Not given)
  • multiple choice
  • selecting factors
  • table completion
  • matching causes and effects
  • sentence completion
  • short answer questions

No secret. Here’s a short bio. I’m from the UK and currently work at York St University teaching EFL. I have been teaching for 15 years and have worked in Egypt, Romania and the UK. Before I was a teacher, I worked as a lawyer for 4/5 years.
