A little but often – RSS feeds

This is in effect a repost from my previous site. I do think, however, it is worth looking at. What I have done here is to organise some RSS feeds from news organisations into the main IELTS categories. These feeds are, if you like, the news as it happens. The basic idea is this. Reading may be good for you, but focussed reading is much better for you. So you don’t just read, but you focus your reading on the types of stories and language you will get in the exam.

A possible exercise

If you want to do more than read and do an exercise, try this. See if you decide what each paragraph in the article is about. How would you summarise it? This is excellent practice for the paragraph matching exercise in the exam. Alternatively, you can test your speed reading skills with Cueprompter or check the key vocabulary with the AWL.

You will find that the links refresh almost daily, so you can come back regularly to find something new. You will also find that some of the links are videos – good listening practice.
