Who am I?
Before you go any further, let me introduce myself. Here I am in one of my natural environments – as a teacher of English.
This is a job I have been doing for more than 15 years now. I have worked in schools, universities and language schools teaching students of all nationalities. I’m beginning to feel really rather experienced.
Why am I doing this?
I love my work. Teaching can be one of the best jobs in the world – truly rewarding. This website is my playpen,it’s something I do at home and on the train to and from work. My job is also my hobby – so here is me at home (sadly now sold).
My philosophy
As I mentioned above, this blog is for anyone interested in IELTS: teachers or candidates. It is, however, a personal enterprise based on a clear philosophy.
The best way to pass IELTS is to learn English
To me this much is obvious: IELTS tips and tricks may help, but only if your English is good enough in the first place. This is why this site is “a teacher’s guide to IELTS preparation“. My goal is to teach a little English here as well as pointing you in the direction of the best IELTS places on the net.
What will you find here?
All sorts of good things I hope. I’m a believer in quality over quantity and my aim is to select the best IELTS resources on the net for you as well as doing the teaching thing.
If you are interested in my personal advice then select the blog pages on the top navigation bar. If the links to other practice sites are what interest you, then aim for the resources on the tabber bar.

Before you start, may I suggest you go through this brief quiz on the format of the exam. If you don’t get 100%, it would be a good idea to check out the candidate booklet. A lot of mistakes made in the exam can be easily avoided this way.
